Eggs on wheels — a test project

Since it first arrived in July 2021, the 1 x 2.5 metre chicken coop on wheels generates many curious questions from visitors to the San Ignacio farm in Northeast Buenos Aires Hub, Argentina. Our first free-ranging poultry are of the common H&N Brown Nick-breed, and they get to wake up to a different scenery every other day when their mobile home rotates to a new location.

The hens are moved from paddock to paddock, following the grass-fed cattle around the pastures.

We keep the breed for its eggs, but their contribution to the farm soil-ecosystem gives them a broader value from a regenerative farming perspective. The hens, for example, not only increase the soil’s fertility, but also help to control pests.
